TC Backer Construction has been family-owned and based in York, Pennsylvania since 2008. The same crews that install roofs, gutters, and siding across York, Adams, and Cumberland counties are the ones cooking turkeys on Penn Street and hauling diapers into a church basement. Giving back is not a marketing line here — it is scheduled work, on the calendar, every year.

Annual
Roofers In Recovery Roof Giveaway
Each year, TC Backer Construction donates a brand-new roof to a community member in need — materials, labor, and cleanup, at no cost to the homeowner. The goal is simple: a family that could not otherwise afford a roof replacement ends up with a safe, dry, code-compliant home.
We then match the value of that roof with a donation to the national Roofers In Recovery program, which helps people in the roofing trade and their families get treatment and support for addiction. Thousands of dollars are donated annually through the program.

Swing Fore Recovery Charity Golf Outing
Swing Fore Recovery is TC Backer Construction's annual golf outing, and it is a separate program from the roof giveaway — though both support the same cause. Proceeds from the outing benefit Roofers In Recovery.
The day brings together local businesses, suppliers, community leaders, and supporters for a scramble, prizes, and raffles. Sponsorship and foursome details are announced ahead of each outing. If your business wants to be part of it, get in touch with our York office.

Annual Community Appreciation Day
Community Appreciation Day is an open house at the TC Backer Construction headquarters at 2300 Carlisle Rd in York, PA. It is free, open to the public, and built as a thank-you to the customers, neighbors, trade partners, and first responders who keep this community running.

Annual Food Drive
Our team collects and donates thousands of pounds of food and grocery items to The Well at Union Lutheran, a York City food pantry serving families facing food insecurity.
The drive is stocked to fill real gaps — shelf-stable proteins, baby food, cooking staples — not just whatever is left in the cupboard. Employees, their families, and customers all contribute.

Annual Diaper Drive
Diapers are one of the most requested and least donated items at any pantry, and they are not covered by SNAP benefits. Each year, TC Backer employees, their families, and their friends come together to donate thousands of diapers to The Well at Union Lutheran.
The result is a direct, practical supply of essentials for the youngest members of the York community.
Every Thanksgiving Eve
Annual 21 Turkey Salute
Every Thanksgiving Eve, TC Backer Construction shuts down a city block at the intersection of Penn & Market in downtown York, deep-fries turkeys simultaneously, and serves hundreds of hot meals to the community. The first 21 Turkey Salute set a Guinness World Record for simultaneous turkey frying.
It has run every year since as a free, open-to-everyone Thanksgiving Eve gathering — no ticket, no reservation, no questions asked.
